General markers

Marker

Meaning

Easy track/gravel road

Suitable for all vehicles, including 2WD cars. These tracks are generally well maintained and are suitable for all skill levels.

Medium route

Generally a proper 4WD route or an area that requires a little bit of care or skill. Think soft beaches, routes that head through exposed areas.

A 4WD with low range may be required for sections, if not all of the route.

Hard route

A proper 4WD will generally be required to tackle these routes. Routes marked this tend to have proper obstacles or a higher risk of things of going wrong.

A 4WD with low range and clearance is highly recommended. Recommended for more experienced drivers.

Campsite or hut

A place to spend the night - as many details as possible are provided around what to expect, pricing etc

Weather/traffic webcam

Get a rough idea on what the conditions are like before heading to them. Some webcams don't run overnight so the images may not be 100% up to date.

Car ferry

Take your car with you on a ferry. The ferry route is also shown on the map so you can see where it starts/ends.

River flow

Keep an eye on the flow level of rivers that you're heading near. Navigator Pro users get a 'Last 48 hour' timeline to help determine which way the river flow is moving.
