Yes! Overland Navigator is designed for offline use. Download your maps in advance and you can navigate without any data connection.
Overland Navigator is optimised for New Zealand but includes worldwide map data. Maps outside of New Zealand are available to download in the same way as NZ regions.
- Check that you have a stable Wi-Fi or mobile data connection.
- Ensure you have enough free storage on your device (at least 500 MB recommended).
- Try cancelling and restarting the download.
- If the problem persists, go to Settings → Clear Cache and try again.

Map sizes vary by region. New Zealand maps range from around 90 MB (Taranaki) to 350 MB (Canterbury). You can see the size before downloading.

Enable Background App Refresh on iOS or disable battery optimisation for Overland Navigator on Android to improve background recording.
- Ensure the file is a valid GPX format (v1.0 or v1.1).
- Check the file is not corrupted by opening it in a text editor.
- Make sure the file extension is
.gpx(not.txtor.xml). - Try importing using the From URL option if the file is hosted online.
