Waypoints & Interest Points
Interest points (also called waypoints) are community-created markers on the map - things like lookouts, gates, water crossings, and 4WD obstacles. You can also create your own to mark spots you want to remember or share.
Tap any interest point marker on the map to open its detail screen.
You’ll see:
- A photo (if one’s been added)
- Description or notes from whoever created it
- Current weather and a short forecast for that location
Bottom bar options:
- Directions - opens Google Maps, Apple Maps, or Waze with that location as the destination
- … menu - add to a trip, or delete it (if it’s yours)
Long-press anywhere on the map and choose to create a new interest point, or use the create button if available.
You’ll fill in:
- Name / note - a label or brief description
- Latitude & Longitude - filled in automatically if dropped from the map, or type them in. Tap the clipboard icon to paste a coordinate you’ve copied elsewhere.
Then pick a point type:
| Type | |
|---|---|
| Lookout | Scenic viewpoint |
| Gate (unlocked) | Open gate on the route |
| Gate (locked) | Closed or locked gate |
| 4WD Obstacle (has alternative) | Tricky section with a way around |
| 4WD Obstacle (no alternative) | No way around - you need to deal with it |
| Water crossing | Ford or stream crossing |
| Hut | Backcountry hut |
| Campsite | Informal or user-discovered campsite |
| Soft sand | Sandy terrain warning |
| Mud | Muddy section |
| Toilets | Public toilets |
Selecting a type creates the point and adds it to the map straight away.
All your created interest points live in the My Navigator tab. From there you can view, export, or delete them.
