Navigator Points

Navigator Points are claimable locations scattered across New Zealand. Visit one in person and you’ll earn points towards your ranking on the leaderboard. Points are worth different amounts - harder-to-reach spots generally score higher.

Turning on the layer

Navigator Points appear as markers on the map when the layer is enabled. Tap the layers icon, scroll to the Markers section, and toggle Navigator Points on. The markers update as you pan around.

Claiming a point

When you get close enough to a Navigator Point, a popup appears automatically. Tap Claim to record your visit and collect the points. You don’t need to do anything to trigger it - the app detects your location in the background.

Each point can only be claimed once per account.

Adding a photo

Before confirming a claim you can attach a photo - either take one with your camera or pick one from your library. The photo is attached to your claim and visible to other users who view that point.

Viewing a point

Tap any Navigator Points marker on the map to open its detail screen. This shows:

  • The point name and how many points it’s worth
  • Recent claims with the claiming user’s name and when they visited
  • Tap a user’s name to view their public profile

Leaderboard

The leaderboard shows how you rank against other users by total points earned. Rankings update as claims are synced.

Offline use

Navigator Points work without a data connection. If you’re in an area without service, the app still detects when you enter a point’s zone and the claim popup will appear as normal. Your claim - including any photo - is saved locally on your device and synced to the server automatically once you’re back online. Nothing is lost if you lose signal mid-trip.
