Using Android Auto

With a compatible Android phone and head unit, you can use Overland Navigator on your Android Auto display to browse nearby tracks, inspect track details, and jump into your car’s navigation app for the drive to the trailhead.

Android Auto currently requires an active Navigator All Access subscription.

Before you start

Make sure:

  1. Your Android phone is connected to your vehicle with Android Auto working normally
  2. You’re signed in to Overland Navigator on your phone
  3. Your subscription includes Navigator All Access

If Overland Navigator does not appear on your car display, open it on your phone first and give Android Auto a few seconds to refresh.

Using Overland Navigator with Android Auto

  1. Open Overland Navigator from the Android Auto app launcher.
  2. The map opens around your current location.
  3. Use the controls to:
    • Re-centre your location
    • Zoom in or out
    • Search for a track by name
    • Change layers to switch the base map
  4. A Nearby Tracks card shows the closest tracks. Tap a track to focus it on the map and open its key details.
  5. If you want more map space, use the list toggle to collapse the Nearby Tracks card.

Viewing track details

From Android Auto you can open a track detail panel that shows the track name, region, grade, rating, and length.

From there you can choose Directions to hand off to your car’s navigation app for the on-road drive to the start of the track.

Use the Search button to filter tracks by name. Tap a result to focus that track on the map.

Known limitations

  • Android Auto is focused on map viewing and quick track lookup while you’re in the vehicle.
  • On-road turn-by-turn navigation still happens in your car’s navigation app after you tap Directions.
  • Subscription changes and upgrades need to be done on your phone, not from the car display.
